At Holy Trinity, we like to talk a lot about grace—God’s free gift of Jesus Christ in seeking and saving everyone. Last year we talk a lot about “proclaiming” that Good News here, at Holy Trinity. We tried to build a “base of grace”—where we could find sure and certain hope in God’s saving work for us, not based on merit but on God’s unconditional love for us!
If you have heard this message of grace, fantastic! If you are still listening, still trying to figure it out, you aren’t alone. If you have heard it and want to go deeper, you are ready for 2020!
The theme of this year’s stewardship campaign, and subsequent theme for 2020, is “Growing in Grace: What Next?” We’ve heard the Good News, but what now? How does the message of God’s unconditional grace for everyone play out in our daily lives? How does it move and push us as a congregation? Where is God calling and the Holy Spirit leading?
Nov 10 will begin our annual stewardship campaign. It will have all te features it usually does—talking about stewardship (come to Sunday School to learn more!), sending out pledge cards, finding a starting place to build our budget for 2020.
However, this year it will also include something else! Together, as the family of Holy Trinity, we will intentionally pray, pursue, and pay attention to where God is calling us. The Holy Spirit is active in our lives, in the church, and in the world around us. We can be sure the Holy Spirit is already acting, what we will be doing is trying to identify that work and find was to participate in it!
What’s the Deal with Stewardship? (11/3, 11/10 & 11/24 at 9 AM) This formation opportunity will offer a primer about the basics to stewardship: the who, what, and why of offering ourselves and our stuff to God. This will happen on Sundays at 9 AM.
What Next Weekend! (11/16 & 11/17) Join us for this weekend of intentional formation and discernment. On 11/16 (9 AM to 2 PM, breakfast & lunch provided), ALPHA comes to a close with our “What Next Saturday.” Structured like the other ALPHA evenings, this is a day to dive deeper into the Christian life, an opportunity to find ways to deepen one’s personal faith, and to begin to ask “where is God calling?” This is specifically for people who came to ALPHA starting in September; however, if you want to come, join us! We’d love for you to be a part of the Saturday. Then on 11/17 (3 PM), we will host a member of the Diocesan Discernment team who will help lead Holy Trinity in a consensus building workshop. Two heads are better one, and the whole congregation has great ideas about what comes next! Come be a part of this workshop and help us discern where God is calling us to participate in God’s work in the world, in our community, and in our lives. This is open to everyone and we hope the whole congregation can make it!
Growing in Grace: The Kickoff Party (11/24 at 12 PM, Lunch provided) Join us on Sunday, 11/24 after the second service for our “Growing in Grace” Kickoff Party. We will celebrate the faithful gifts of the congregation—in service, resources, and vision—and we will celebrate the end of our stewardship campaign. This party, with light appetizers and drinks, will be a thanksgiving for the way God is working at Holy Trinity and for the faithful support of the church by you, her members! We hope you can make it. Please RSVP by 11/20 to let us know you are coming! There will be a sign-up sheet in the narthex and a mailing to follow.
